About Us
What is the NRCS?
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, dedicated to helping private landowners conserve, maintain, and improve natural resources. With a focus on sustainable land use, NRCS provides technical expertise and financial support for projects that protect soil, water, air, and wildlife, while promoting the health and productivity of our nation’s landscapes. Through collaborative partnerships, NRCS works to ensure a balance between human needs and environmental preservation.

The Watershed and Flood Prevention Operations (WFPO) Program provides technical and financial assistance to States, local governments and Tribal organizations to help plan and implement authorized watershed projects. All Watershed Program projects must have a local sponsor that can act as the fiscal agent, provide project management and oversight throughout the different phases of construction, implementation, and project lifespan.

The West Branch Panther Creek Watershed Project includes a coalition of local government agencies and community stakeholders who are dedicated to addressing flood risks and restoring natural ecosystems. The stakeholders play a vital role in bringing the project’s vision to life. By pooling efforts, we are working to improve water management, enhance resilience to extreme weather events, and protect critical infrastructure and habitats in the West Branch Panther Creek Watershed.
Through ongoing collaboration, the stakeholders are not only investing in the safety and well-being of local communities but also promoting sustainable environmental practices. The shared commitment aids the long-term success of the project, driving forward initiatives that benefit both people and nature. Together, these partners are making a lasting impact, creating a healthier, more resilient watershed for generations to come.
